Servings: 4

Total Recipe Time: 30 minutes

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook time: 20 minutes

Ingredients:

1 pound chicken thighs with skin

3 tbsp corn starch

2 tbsp Shaoxing cooking wine

Pinch of kosher salt

1 tbsp olive oil

1 head garlic (10 cloves) (finely chopped)

2 tbsp butter

1 tbsp soy sauce

2 tbsp harrisa

2 tbsp honey

1/3 cup water

1 tbsp corn starch

1 tbsp cilantro (finely chopped)

Method:

  1. Marinate chicken: In a bowl, mix chicken with corn starch, Shaoxing cooking wine, and salt and mix until combined.

  2. Cook chicken: In a medium hot saute pan, pour in olive oil and place chicken thighs skin down and cook for 5-8 minutes until skin is golden and crispy. Flip chicken and cook for additional 5-7 minutes until cooked. Set chicken aside.

  3. Make sauce: In the same saute pan on medium low heat, combine garlic, butter, soy sauce, harissa, and honey. Cook for 2-4 minutes until garlic begins to soften. In a small bowl, mix water and cornstarch together to make a slurry and add to pan. Mix sauce together until combined and sauce begins to thicken. Add chicken pieces back to pan and cook for additional 1-2 minutes.

  4. Serve: Slice cooked chicken, place over rice, pour additional sauce over chicken and rice, garnish with chopped cilantro and enjoy!
